Hello, folks. Sorry for the long delay; a lot has happened since
my last update in October of 2006.
My mother passed away a couple of months ago after a two-year
battle with cancer. I know it's an odd subject to bring up with
the older women in your life, but please remind them to perform
monthly breast self-examinations and to make appointments for
mammograms yearly. If you have a little extra money lying
around, consider donating it to the
American
Cancer Society, especially if you intended to donate this
money to miniaim.
In other news, I have picked up development of miniaim again,
and I hope to have a version out sometime soon. I have completed
support for Direct IM chat and file receive, and file send (what
everyone really wants, right?) should be relatively painless.
Also, I removed about 500 spambot accounts and their posts from
the forum. If I removed your account, just sign up again.
Thanks for continued interest in miniaim, and a special thanks
to everyone that pestered me to release "one, final version."
There will be more to come :^)
A small update: the next version of miniaim should support Direct IM, including chat and file transfer and receive. It appears that the remote side will have to initiate the connection, but after that, you will be able to send and receive pictures, music, and other files. Screenshots of this will be posted soon. In the meantime, let me know what you think in the forum!
This new version is meant as an update to the previous beta test. It resolves several issues that came up in testing. Thanks for all your help in debugging the beta test. A final release should be out soon!
Too long has passed since the last update, so here it is. :^) I am asking for help in beta testing the latest build of miniaim. A lot of changes have been made since the last version, and I've done a lot more coding than testing, so it's really integral that I receive help. You can get more information from this forum post. Thanks in advance!
Hello, miniaimers. Well, after thinking long and hard, I have decided to delay the next version a bit longer. I have divorced miniaim from the CRT, and reimplemented the CRT functions that miniaim used. This provides a whopping 33% size savings, but it introduces a lot of issues that I have to resolve. You may trust, though, that when it debuts, it will be pretty neat!
Hello again! After a long wait, I am pleased to say that the next version of miniaim is nearing completion and is in serious need of beta testers. If you think that you are up to the task, please see this post. Thanks in advance!
